Critical 4G, 5G Flaws Allow Hackers to Intercept Phone Calls, Track Locations
Cyber-security researchers in the US have detailed three new critical vulnerabilities in 4G and 5G cellular networks. According to their whitepaper, almost all networks across the globe appear to be affected by the bugs that allow hackers to intercept phone calls and use them to track locations.
In a statement to TechCrunch, one of the co-authors of the paper, Syed Rafiul Hussain, said that "Any person with a little knowledge of cellular paging protocols can carry out this attack". The findings will be officially presented at the Network and Distributed System Security Symposium in San Diego on Tuesday.
